What is The Main Line Chamber of Commerce?

An association of member businesses, organizations, and individuals who strive to promote free enterprise and corporate and entrepreneurial success in the region. It is a membership organization whose activities are geared to benefit members in a variety of ways.

The Chamber has served members in and around the Main Line since 1921.

 

 

What is the mission of the Chamber?

The Main Line Chamber of Commerce is the area's influential business advocate committed to:

• ENHANCING the quality of life on the Main Line

 

What is the service/market area of The Main Line Chamber?

From East to West, the Main Line begins at City Avenue in Bala Cynwyd and runs along the Route 30 (Lancaster Avenue) corridor to Frazer. Generally boundaries on the North and South side are Route 202 and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) respectively.

 

 

Who can or should join The Main Line Chamber?

Any business that desires to create or enhance a marketing presence along the Main Line should consider membership. Many of our members are based outside of the Main Line and see the area as a very attractive market in which they hope to do business.

 

 

How large is the Chamber?

The Main Line Chamber of Chamber has nearly 1,100 members. It is one of the largest Chambers of Commerce in the 8-county Philadelphia Metropolitan Area.

 

 

As a small business operator, will I feel welcome or lost as a member?

The Main Line Chamber prides itself on making all members, regardless of size, feel welcome into the organization. Usually, all it takes is one event or meeting to convince you that your Chamber experience will be a good one.

 

 

Are member benefits available to all employees of a member business or organization?

Yes. Any full or part-time employee at the same location of a member business are eligible for Chamber benefits or programs.

 

 

How can the Chamber help my business?

Chamber membership opens the doors to a wide variety of benefits. From networking opportunities that help develop new business contacts and leads, to valuable seminars that are useful and interesting, Chamber members derive the benefits. From committee involvement to eligibility for the Chamber's endorsed healthcare, 401(k), credit card processing, payroll processing and other key programs, members will benefit. There is literally something for every business regardless of size. The Chamber truly exists to help its members succeed.

 

 

How can I optimize my ROI in Chamber membership?

The best method for optimizing your membership is to participate in Chamber activities and marketing opportunities.  Be sure to read the "You Should Know..." e-mails which are sent by The Main Line Chamber of Commerce every Thursday.  Invest a few minutes each week to read these messages that will include essential information about value-added events, special programming, and marketing opportunities.

 

 

Is there any guarantee that I will acquire new business by becoming a Chamber member?

The chances for acquiring new business go up dramatically when a business person gets involved and serves on a committee as a volunteer.  There's no better way to grow closer with other business owners than to work alongside them.  In addition, serving on a committee can give you the reputation of a person who "gets things done."  Other Chamber members will feel much more comfortable referring business your way when they know, by past experience that you are diligent and professional.

 

 

How can I get involved in the Chamber?

Involvement is certainly encouraged. Many members serve on one or more of the committees and task forces that govern Chamber activities. Involvement can also mean attending seminars, networking events, or even running in the Annual Main Line 5K Run. Our members also present most of our seminars and help organize other programs such as Non-Profit Roundtable and the Celebration of Business Leadership – or any number of other possibilities.

Our members' involvement is what makes this organization great.

 

 

Are there required meetings to attend?

No. You can attend as many or as few Chamber activities as you like. Active members get the most value from their memberships, however.

 

 

Why attend a mixer or networking event?  What's in it for me?

Making new business contacts and building business relationships is a stable discipline that can feed your prospect/sales pipeline.  Other Chamber members may not be able to use your products or services, but they most likely know other people who can.  Capturing information about "who you know" is one of the most robust methods for generating warm prospect/sales leads.

 

 

How can a member join a committee?  What committees are available?

There are several primary committees within The Main Line Chamber of Commerce which are comprised of enthusiastic members who help shape the direction of the Chamber's initiatives.  Depending upon your interests or expertise, we know that there is a fit for you.

How can I best access services that other members provide?

One of the best resources provided by The Main Line Chamber of Commerce is the Membership Directory which is available both online at www.mlcc.org and in printed form.  Both resources enable you to search service providers by category (accountants, attorneys, consultants, etc.) and by alphabetical name.
