History of The Main Line Chamber of Commerce

The Main Line Chamber of Commerce has a long history that began in 1921 when the Chamber was originally known as The Ardmore Chamber of Commerce.  Below are some of the events that helped maked the Chamber the organization that it is today...

 


1921
The Ardmore Chamber of Commerce formed with 30 original members.




1948
The Chamber welcomed the first female member of its Board of Directors.




1979
The Chamber reached the 500 member milestone.



1996
The Main Line Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 75th anniversary of service to the Main Line.

Former Chamber President Karl Schauffele retired.


1999
The Chamber moved to its offices to their present location on Strafford Avenue in Wayne.









2001
The Main Line Chamber Foundation, Inc. was formed.




2006
The Chamber celebrated its 85th anniversary.

The gavel was passed to the first female Board Chair in seventeen years.


















1944
The name of the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce was officially changed to The Main Line Chamber of Commerce.



1973
The Inaugural Prayer Breakfast was held.  The Prayer Breakfast is now known as the Inspirational Breakfast.



1981
The Chamber's headquarters moved from Haverford to Wayne.







1998
The first ever Main Line 5K Run was held.




2000
The Chamber topped the 1,900 member milestone.

The first scholarships were awarded to seniors at member high schools.

The first endorsements of candidates for political office were held.



2004
The Main Line Chamber of Commerce received Accreditation with 5 stars from the United States Chamber of Commerce.






2007
The total amount of scholarships presented to seniors from member high school tops the $100,000 level.
